About the Artists
Vassels made by Yasuyo Yamamoto
We are pleased to announce the arrival of two new pieces of pottery by Yasuyo Yamamoto, a potter in Kanazawa City, Ishikawa Prefecture, Japan.
One is a plate with red flowers painted in an Amime pattern, and the other is a lovely dish with lotus flowers and birds.
As the name suggests, “Amime” is a design of nets used in fishing.
It was loved in the Edo period (1603-1867) and was used as a pattern for tenugui (hand towels).
The impression changes depending on the size of the net and the strength of the curves,
It is fun to compare them with each other.
